This system was established a few years ago as a way of enabling some people to have access to radio who may never have considered it as a viable business tool due to cost or the perceived difficulties associated with obtaining a licence, etc.

The provision of a group of channels dedicated for the service and a ready source of low cost equipment has made this service very popular and there is a wide range of equipment now on offer. The VX-146 is the latest two way radio model in the Vertex Standard range of high quality, cost effective handheld transceivers for the European PMR446 service. The radio is manufactured with a strong polycarbonate case designed to withstand the knocks from everyday use in business, industry or recreational use. Features include a clear backlight LCD display and 3 programmable function buttons for controlling selective calling, lamp and lock. Full CTCSS and DCS group and user selective calling features are available in the VX-146.

The VX-146 is PC programmable with the ability to configure all features and functions for downloading into the radio. PC configurations can be saved on the PC for security. The VX-146 can be very simply cloned in the field using the optional CT-27 clone cable, ensuring easy and rapid deployment if required.

A full range of accessories is available for the VX-146 including 'Hands Free VOX' operation using the optional VC-25 headset.

YAESU VX-246
The Yaesu VX-246 heavy duty PMR446 transceiver provides 500mW ERP of power for reliable two-way communications within a two-mile radius depending upon terrain.

Lock out interference and annoying breakthrough from other stations on the same channels by choosing from one of 38 CTCSS tones or from one of 104 DCS sequences on one of the 8 pre-programmed RF channels in the PMR446 allocated frequency range. Up to 16 different channel / CTCSS or DCS sequences can be programmed into the radio. The radio can be programmed using the front panel keypad, by means of a PC based software programmer or cloned from another VX-246 using the CT-27 clone cable kit.
